Exploration at Home

Where Do You Think This Goes…?

We went on one of those “let’s see where this goes” bike rides yesterday. One of us – more than the other – had a rough idea of the general direction we were heading 😉🧭

On the way home we stopped for coffee at our local – Jam on Queenwood. It was peak time so we considered ourselves blessed to snag the last outside (in the sun) table.

A few people smiled at us … probably they were smiling about me… maybe if my sisters had been with me, I would’ve been disowned … but they weren’t and so I wasn’t.

Truth is, it was chilly when we left home. Even though it was an absolutely stunning autumnal Beautiful Blue Dome Day (BBDD) in the Wonderful Waikato, I knew I needed to cover my ears because the wind noise could’ve triggered a vertigo attack (it’s possible I have Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome – or something similar). I don’t have Meniere’s Disease but I do suffer from vestibular vertigo, which wind can trigger.

Which is why I like to have my ears covered … which is why I’m sometimes disowned 🙄

Brunner

One thing led to another which led to another yesterday … which led to us not having break-fast until 15:00…

Alan declared we were having a new meal known from this day forward as brunner – a combination of late breakfast and lunch combined with early dinner🤣

More Practice Required

While we were away Alan celebrated another birthday (yay!I’m blessed!). That was also a day that didn’t quite turn out as planned but another story for another time.

What do you buy someone who really doesn’t yearn for anything except continued good health, family and a job they love…?

I drink my coffee black – it’s easy to make, no special equipment required. I carry a plunger / French Press and coffee with me, pretty much everywhere I go when an overnight is involved.

Alan’s coffee of choice is cappuccino – unless you go for instant (swear word!) it’s a lot harder to make on the go. Therefore I thought a milk warmer and frother we could take away with us on our future adventures would be something he might enjoy.

I did my research and decided on the Breville model (vs Nespresso). The Breville won out because it heated more milk (700ml).

Our first foray was using the cappuccino setting with the frothing disk. The verdict was it was okay but not really hot enough. Alan still gave it a quick blast in the microwave – which is what I wanted to avoid – cos that’s how we make his cappuccinos now (heating the milk in the microwave then whisking). Given we won’t have a microwave in our home-on-wheels.

Soooooo… more practice is required – our next attempt will be using the hot chocolate mode as it heats the milk up to about 80oC (vs 65-70oC).

Here’s to sewing an extra stitch into the tapestry of my ordinary married life to celebrate extra-ordinary married living💖
