I had the Ann Street Steps all to myself yesterday – 09:30 Monday mornings must be a good time – if I don’t want to share…? Or maybe the timing had nothing to do with other people being out there and doing it. Maybe twas the weather…? Cos the skies were threatening to open… which they did, ever so briefly.

Regardless. Because of a few “meeting juggles” it meant I could climb my steps before lunch, rather than after it. #smilingontheinside.

I’m sure my sisters will disown me with these not-very-glamorous photos – taken after climbing 9x repeats.

Autumnal Tree Now A Winter Tree

I’ve been photographing this tree on the other side of the Waikato River, at least weekly now, for the last 7 weeks or so. In that time I’ve watched it transition through its glorious autumn colours.

What a surprise this morning to see that it’s all-but-bare. Winter is surely upon us in the Wonderful Waikato!

On a street not far from where I live are cherry trees. I’ve told myself every year, it’d be an interesting project to photograph these trees as they start to bloom. I haven’t done it yet and we’ve been living here since 2012. I’ve started – multiple times – but then I’ve changed my walking route … missed a few weeks of the trees … and before I know it, I’ve missed them totally. Until the next year. Which I’ve still missed!

Maybe I can capture this tree in the reverse…? Autumn through spring…? We’ll see. Here it is, so far:

My Monday 23 June In Pictures

I got to meet a special friend for lunch today. At the same time we were meeting, our husbands had their own playdate somewhere else. But men don’t call them that, I’m told! Whatever! I told Alan that he and his special friend had to go play somewhere else today because his friend’s wife and I were meeting at Weave and we bagsed it first 🤣

Alan cooked dinner – pizza. Twas another test … we’re fast coming to the opinion that our pizza oven stone doesn’t get particularly hot. Next test is to make our own dough (again).
