Blue Dome Days – they’re a family thing

In my family, we refer to certain days as Blue Dome Days.

This term, inspired by my mum’s Big Bro – our Uncle Ted – Blue Dome Day, has become a very special way for my sisters, our mum and me to describe those clear, beautiful – not-a-cloud-in-the-sky great-to-be-alive days.

When any of us refer to Blue Dome Days, I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking of Uncle Ted.

A Clear Day in the Wonderful Waikato

Today is a perfect example of a Beautiful Blue Dome Day (BBDD) here in the Wonderful Waikato.

The sky is a clear blue, making it most definitely one of those Great to be Alive Days and lovely to be outside.

An Unexpected “wowwwww!”

In this photo of my walk, what you can’t see are the hot air balloons I got the pleasure of seeing, just around the corner.

I was surprised that I hadn’t seen any balloons to that point – especially as it was the perfect morning for them. I told myself I must’ve been too late to see them.

But I wasn’t!

When I took this selfie, I didn’t expect to see those balloons – which were too far out to photo anyway – but which created a huge SmileOnTheInside moment.

Finding Joy in the Small Things

Have you ever wondered many small moments or surprises lie just ahead of us if we but take the time to explore… to look at things with a Beginner’s Mind … or through Children’s Eyes…

A couple of years’ ago, someone told me how my “little moments of joy” inspired her to look at things afresh. She said that in her country, it was all go-go-go, strive-strive-strive … and yet here was I, SmilingOnTheInside with the little things in life.

A Joyful Morning

That morning, I felt grateful not only for the stunning autumnal weather but also for the unexpected sight of the hot air balloons.
