Yesterday I said I felt a bit conspicuous emptying my French Press in public. This morning I used a different drain – one more “inland” than close to the street – and ended up chatting with one of the conference exhibitors. Now that was pretty conspicuous!

He must’ve noticed my “VetClinicJobs” puffer vest and knew I was a conference attendee, hence starting up the conversation

I thought he thought I was a fellow exhibitor as well, because he started talking about “pack down time” and how it was different this year, to last. He was looking forward to being able to start packing down at 13:30.

Even though I felt conspicuous and the thought of a Nespresso coffee machine is getting every stronger, I kept reminding myself that if not for the fact I was outside rinsing my coffee plunger, I wouldn’t met this exhibitor! #smilingontheinside

Walk at Lunchtime

Another wild walk around the Wellington waterfront at lunchtime. Earlier than usual because I was absolutely freezing and I went out to get some exercise to warm up.

Dinner – Cobb & Co – Levin

As soon as the conference ended, I high-tailed it across the road to the Te Papa carpark at lightning speed, eager to hit the road as quickly as possible. Neither of us wanted to get caught in Friday night rush hour traffic, especially in the rain.

Unfortunately, on a spur-of-the-moment impulse, my baby sister decided to pay us a visit at Te Papa, but by then, we’d already left!

If only we’d known – we could have easily stayed a bit longer. However, by the time she called to find out where we were, we were just about to sit down for dinner in Levin – at least 60 minutes north of where she was.

We definitely would have lingered at Te Papa for another night if we’d known she was coming. It would’ve been great to catch up with her, especially since we couldn’t make that happen on Tuesday evening when we arrived in Wellington from the Wairarapa.

Dinner in Levin

We chose Cobb and Co (Levin) for dinner. Back in the day they used to make a fantastic Seafood Chowder and I had a bit of an urge for something comfort in my tummy. I wasn’t disappointed!

Dessert was a taste of chocolate decadence – yummmm!

Freedom Camping – Foxton Beach

Using the NZMCA app, freedom camping at Foxton Beach looked an easy find. I kept joking that if we kept going any further west we’d end up in Sydney!

We arrived in the dark – which is becoming typical – but the designated camping parks are easy to identify – even in the dark.

It was freezing outside and we were nice’n toasty warm inside.
