Lacey Doilies – aka Spider’s Web

Spiders’ Webs in Autumn – Stunning!

I was surprised when I went outside this morning as the Wonderful Waikato was blanketed with a light misty fog. It lifted as Alan and I walked, so wasn’t particularly pea soup.

I don’t mind foggy mornings s’long as they don’t hang around for very long. Those that block out the sun all day – those – I’m not that enamoured with.

But this morning’s blanket was welcome because it made all the spiders’ webs stand out and man! some of them were absolutely stunning.

On a frosty winter’s day, the webs look like diamond encrusted doilies – beautiful.

When we got home I walked around the garden trying to find The Shot. Photographing a spider’s web isn’t particularly easy – you have to stand in just the right place to catch the light on the threads, but without the lens focussing on the background.

I’m pleased with this spider’s web shot.

Today is Day #1,306

Honestly, I still can’t quite believe I’ve managed to walk every single day for the past 1,306 days – a serious amount of steps!

Sure, there’ve been DFLGO Days – Didn’t Feel Like Going Out Days – but that’s been the key, I think – to go out anyway – even when I don’t feel like it, even in the rain.

What keeps me going? The thought of having to start at Zero again keeps me going out – even on DFLGO Days.

Today is Day 006

I had a coughing fit this afternoon … while on the phone with a client … talk about embarrassing … one of those fits where your eyes stream and you lose your voice for a bit.

I felt a bit ‘off’ for the rest of the day which meant my ride with Alan this afternoon wasn’t as far as I would’ve liked it to have been.

Why am I talking about increasing my distances when I’m doing my best not to be that ER Person (further, harder, faster)…? Because I want to get my being comfortable in the saddle back to >20km… which means going down the ER route for a bit… without it doing my head it.

Here’s to seeing the beauty in spider’s webs…

Here’s to walking every day…

Here’s to slowly getting fitter – one pedal stroke at a time.
