Rain. Rain. And More Rain. Alllll Day!

My Raincoat Was Still Damp – ugh!
#smilingontheinside – Saturday 28 June 2025
I hadn’t realised that my raincoat hadn’t fully dried out until I went to wear it again for my daily walk. Ugh! Obviously, hanging it up in the garage – over a bucket to catch the drips – wasn’t such a good idea after all! Next time I’ll bring it and the bucket further into the house. 🤣
Fortunately, my sodden shoes had dried out – probably aided by the fact I’d pulled the linings out of them and then put them on a stool in front of the heat pump.
Consecutive Daily Walk #1,400
Today was my 1,400th consecutive daily walk – wow!! Who would’ve thunked that?? According to my Sports Tracker App – it was 12oC and sunny – I remember it well as it was a gorgeous winter morning with blue sky – one of those Great To Be Alive Days – even though we were in our second lockdown…
New Plantings
It hasn’t been that long since I last walked the newly (well, probably 12 months old now) Donny Park walkway, but what a lovely surprise to see that Hamilton City Council has planted out yet more natives. #smilingontheinside
At the moment they look a bit scraggly and scrawny. More like overgrown weeds. But I’m so looking forward to watching them grow up, like all the others along that walkway. It’s really gorgeous and a pleasure to walk – in the rain or when it’s dry.
There’s a lemon tree that grows over the fence… I wonder how long the fruit will stay on, before walkers help themselves…?

Size 80/12 needle with polyester thread
My frustration was starting to grow… I was using a (supposed) universal purple Janome needle that was meant to work on all fabrics with all threads of all thicknesses… except it wasn’t! The tension was out. Well and truly out!
I’d cleaned out the bobbin area of lint: multiple times. Rethreaded: multiple times. Used a new purple needle and still no joy.
Then taaa daaa! An 80/12 did the job and I was able to continue quilting my Old Gold and Cream Daisy Asymmetrical Daisy Block. #smilingontheinside
My Saturday 28 June In Pictures

Dinner was Butter Chicken and Plain Naan. I kinda knew that eating that late (20:00) {she says, writing this the following morning} wasn’t such a good idea – it would’ve been better to have fasted – because man! did it disrupt my sleep 🙄😬
