It’s a “Pea Soup” morning

Met Service forecast doesn’t match what I’m seeing

Foggy morning in the Wonderful Waikato - Julie in park with autumnal trees in the background.

I was surprised when I opened the blinds at daybreak this morning to discover pea soup fog. There was no mention of it yesterday in any of the forecasts. If My Hero was home – which he’s not – he’d say something like “I’m not surprised”.

Very little surprises him. Which is good, I s’pose, given what he does to keep me in the manner to which I’ve become accustomed.

Kept Woman

Talking of becoming accustomed, – a joke between My Hero and me – years’ back, I really did #smileontheinside at the raised eyebrows I elicited…

I can’t even remember how the conversation started … I think we were sitting around the dining table with my inlaws talking about the different types of Customs forms you have to complete on arrival into different countries… I happened to mention I always put my occupation as Kept Woman.

My lovely mother in law was pretty shocked and aghast … told me I couldn’t say things like that… but I did. For a few years.

Now I don’t. Now I put something very vanilla and boring like Company Director. Being a Kept Woman – at least on paper – was far more exciting… far more chocolate.

I bet the people who have to enter all that data into the BBCs – Big Bro Computers – get to see (and maybe even #smileontheinside themselves) at all the sortsa occupations they see on a daily basis.

Philosophical Musings

Have you ever wondered about all the things that happen naturally… cyclically… whether we’re around or not… whether we see them or not… hear them… or not…?

For example, when we go to the beach and we’re in awe of the ocean waves crashing onto the rocks or gently rolling onto the shore… and then we go back to work and stop thinking about the ocean … yet those same ocean waves are still doing what we marvelled at … even though we’re no longer there as witness…

Or the fog … we go to bed at night and there’s no fog … yet we wake up the next morning and – sometimes – there it is … it’s rolled in whether we’ve been awake or asleep … it just does…

And then there’s that philosophical saying:

If a tree falls in the forest with no ears to hear does it make a sound. It matters not for the tree has fallen.

My World Today

What was going on in the Real World certainly didn’t match the Met Service’s forecast. Fortunately, the fog was lifting even as I was walking. Hopefully, I’ll get to see the Happy Sun shown on the Met Service’s app today.

Here’s to being a Kept Woman…

Here’s to mysterious foggy mornings…

Here’s to philosophical musings.
