The weather was really starting to get cold, blustery and outright wintery.

Unfortunately, I’d eaten something that had given me massive stomach cramps and was feeling very sorry for myself. I was in quite a bit of pain which meant I wasn’t really that connected to what was going on around me.

Alan kept making noises about excess wind dashboard warnings that kept appearing – advising him to stop and pull over. It was windy! I could tell Alan was working hard to keep the the van on our side of the white line.

This wasn’t so critical when we had the entire road to ourselves … or when there wasn’t a cliff. However, there was plenty of chatter about some of the havoc caused by the wind on some weather chat forums – trees down, caravans being overturned, power outtages, etc.

Having read about the purported claims that cherries are beneficial to arthritis sufferers, one of the must-visit places on my list this holiday was Eden Orchards.

What I didn’t realise that the premises weren’t so much an orchard, but more like a warehouse / transport pickup / drop off place.

The cherry juice I wanted to buy – to see if they helped the arthritis in Alan’s thumb (and me sleep) was out of what I wanted. We waited around in Alexandra until we got the call supplies had arrived!

We arrived in Alexandra late – in time to see the clock on the hill lit up.
