One of my Absolute Most Bestie Friends makes candles – perfumed candles. I looooove candles!

One of the things I used to do – I’ve gotten out of the habit but have just reminded myself writing this – is having lighted candles on the dinner table. As I lit them, I’d make a conscious effort to give Thanks for all that was Good in my life…. Thanks for the meal we were about to eat… for the Love that went into cooking that meal.

I remember as a kid, mum telling us three girls that what made each meal special was all the love she poured in, and added, to the meals she cooked us. We just took it for granted that (of course!) she’d always cook us meals that were good for us. But as an adult, sometimes I’m aware that I don’t always give cooking dinner the attention it deserves.

Maybe I’m busy… tired… frustrated… maybe I’m in a rush… but stopping to light the candles and giving Thanks for dinner reminds me to slow down … to be aware of the ingredient called My Energy that I’m adding to our meal.

The gift from my Very Special Friend of this twin-wicked candle reminds me that I used to give Thanks for dinner and it’s time to restart that Attitude of Gratitude ritual.
