My Daily Commitment to Walking
When I say I walk every day, I’m sure people think that it’s not truly every day—just on fine days or when I feel like it.
When I Don’t Walk
They might assume that I skip my walks when:
- It’s raining
- It’s cold
- I don’t really have the time
- I don’t feel like it
The Truth About My Walks
But the reality is, I do walk every. single. day. As of this writing, I’ve walked every day for over one thousand three hundred (>1,300) consecutive days.
The first morning was a beautiful cool, blue-sky, winter’s morning back in that thing called “lockdown” in August 2021.
A Rainy Challenge
Just the other day, it rained—all. day. long!
This meant I got wet.
My Rain Gear Journey
Until recently, I walked in my old, heavy, and worn-out oilskin coat —one I purchased at an A&P Show a loooong time ago. Now, though, I have this snazzy, bright-coloured raincoat that’s a joy to wear.
You gotta smile when you first see it, right…?
Winter Wardrobe Worries
Come winter, I might end up looking a bit like the Michelin Woman, forced to layer multiple garments underneath my snazzy raincoat. Otherwise, I might revert back to the manky oilskin, where I can comfortably wear (read: fit) plenty of layers underneath.
Finding Joy in the Journey
Regardless of how heavy the rain is falling outside, I always SmileOnTheInside when I zip up this raincoat—how could I not…?
Here’s to brightly coloured raincoats…
Here’s to walking every day…
Here’s to walking even when you don’t feel like it.
