Getting Motorhome Ready
We pick up our new (to us) motorhome soon. Our lounge is starting to look a bit like Steptoe’s Yard with stuff.
As kids, we grew up on bright orange Melamine crockery when we went camping. I can remember mum buying it. I’m sure she would’ve been excited. Just like I’m excited today.
Because both space and weight are critical in a motorhome, the choice for crockery is regular china – heavy and not built to withstand the rattling that inevitably takes place in motorhome (or caravan or campervan) cupboards.
Another choice is Melamine – lightweight and durable. However, as an adult, eating off plastic doesn’t really enthral me.
The other choice is Vitrelle / Corelle Glass – lightweight and durable. Corelle and Vitrelle are both brand names for a type of tempered glass known for its durability, strength, and lightweight properties. It’s created through a unique and patented manufacturing process that involves combining three layers of glass, providing resistance to thermal shock, chipping, and scratching.
Plain White Please

The majority of Corelle dinner sets are patterned. They were okay but I’m not really a patterned dinnerware kindawoman. My preference, by far, is plain white.
The thing being, plain white is more expensive than patterned. Who would’ve thunked that? It take more dyes to make a pattern, and more equipment. I’ve no idea why patterned is cheaper.
I was super impressed with myself when I found a retailer who stocked plain white at a much better price than I’d found in motorhome and boating retail places. #smilingontheinside
Packing Surprise
I bought from The Kitchen Warehouse in Papatoetoe so was very surprised when I opened the courier delivery to find a Briscoes label on the box – for much, much less than I’d paid. How’s that work? Does Briscoes have an outlet store by a different name I wonder…?

Week 3 Day 2/3 = 84 x 5 = 420 steps
Yes – even in the rain!

Dinner with Friends – Portofino Hamilton
Alan was on an overnight otherwise he would’ve joined me at a lovely dinner with a long-standing friend, a lovely vet we’ve both known since 2021 and a new acquaintance. Portofino Hamilton.
I had chicken parmigiana. A kinda private joke between Alan and me because it seems that whenever he’s in Melbourne on a sim check flight, that’s what he seems to choose.
